On 16 April 2026, Donau Soja and the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) are co-hosting a panel discussion at the European Parliament. The event will bring together policymakers, industry representatives and experts to further the discussion on a coherent and effective EU Protein Strategy.
The event will explore how closer cooperation with Ukraine could bolster EU food security and competitiveness while reducing dependency on external protein imports. A key focus lies on emphasising the importance of strengthening regional value chains across Eastern and Western Europe, increasing processing capacity, and ensuring that more added value remains within Europe.
Speakers include Aurélie Tournan (Donau Soja), Taras Vysotskyi (Ministry for Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine), Nazar Bobitskii (UCAB), Koen Dillen (European Commission, DG AGRI) and Daniele Marcomin (Oleificio San Giorgio), as well as representatives from the European vegetable oil and protein meal industry.
The programme further presents practical solutions and best practices from across Europe, including initiatives that contribute to the development of sustainable, traceable and non-GM protein value chains.
Through this engagement, Donau Soja continues to advocate for a strong, sustainable and self-sufficient European protein sector.
