CO₂ calculator

Calculate Your Potential CO₂ savings with Donau Soja / Europe Soya for your climate strategy

This calculator helps you estimate the potential CO₂ savings and additional costs when switching from conventional soya to Donau Soja / Europe Soya in your supply chain. You can enter the amount of soya you aim to replace with Donau Soja / Europe Soya, whether for a single product line, a full commodity group, certain suppliers or your total annual soya needed.

a) Based on average imports of 50% from Brasil & 50% USA (without transport emissions; Agrifootprint 6.3)
b) Based on Donau Soja CO2 branded dataset in Agrifootprint: Donau Soja / Europe Soya, at farm, market mix = 0,3 kg CO2/kg soya
c) Assumption for CO2 removal projects: 55 €/t CO2 for CO2 removals based on:
1) Gold Standard CO2 offset projects: Nature-based solutions cost on average 55,50 EUR/t (23.05.2025).
Projects – Tagged “Nature Based Removals / CDR (Forestry)”– Gold Standard Marketplace
2) Statista: Nature-based solutions such as afforestation and reforestation are between 45 & 240 USD per tCO₂ (2023)

This calculator offers you a first estimation of how much CO₂ you could save by switching to Donau Soja / Europe Soya, along with an overview of the associated costs.

The tool compares the CO₂ footprint of conventional soya (based on typical imports from Brazil and the USA) with the footprint of Donau Soja / Europe Soya certified soya, using science-based data from Agri-footprint and Blonk Sustainability. Additionally, the calculator provides an estimate of the price difference based on average 2024 market data, distinguishing between conventional, non-GM, and Donau Soja certified soya. This is particularly relevant where non-GM feed is already a requirement, significantly reducing the additional costs for Donau Soja.

Please note: this calculator is designed as a first approximation. More precise results depend on additional factors such as electricity mix, transport distances, and processing steps, which must be considered in a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Professional tools like Sustell account for these factors.

Nevertheless, the values used here are based on real and scientifically validated data and provide a solid first insight into your potential CO₂ savings and cost impact when switching to Donau Soja / Europe Soya.

You can use these results as a valuable input for your climate strategy, and gradually implement a transition plan for CSRD and SBTi covering successively shifting production lines or suppliers to Donau Soja / Europe Soya.

By doing so, you demonstrate concrete actions to reduce Scope 3 emissions and enhance your sustainability claims with robust, science-based data to strengthen your climate communication towards clients and investors.
