From regional cooperation to national guidelines: Donau Soja contributes to climate adaptation guidance

1 October, 2026

From 21 to 23 September 2026, Donau Soja participated in the final workshop on the development of the Guidelines for adapting Serbian agriculture to climate change, held in Šabac, Serbia.

Earlier this year, Donau Soja worked with stakeholders and expert working groups to develop a Regional Action Plan (RAP) for the future of soya production in the Balkans under changing climate conditions.

The RAP is currently being finalised. Developed through Donau Soja’s regional cooperation with stakeholders and expert working groups, its recommendations on adapting soya production to climate change were reflected in Serbia’s national guidelines. This is a concrete example of how our regional work and experience from the sector can contribute to national policy development and support climate adaptation in agriculture across the Region.

At the workshop, Emilija Stefanovic from Donau Soja presented the organisation’s regional work on the future of soya production in the Balkans. She highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between value-chain actors, public authorities and partners across the region.

Climate change is reshaping agriculture – and our response starts with action. When every actor contributes to adaptation and mitigation, we can build a more resilient future for our sector.
