On 28 January 2025, Donau Soja hosted a media lunch in Kyiv, bringing together leading Ukrainian agricultural media. The event focused on key issues shaping the soybean sector, including Ukraine’s role in the European Protein Transition, the impact of the EU Green Deal, and compliance with new regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
Given the 150th anniversary of soybean cultivation in Ukraine and Europe, the crop rightly becomes the EU integration crop of Ukraine, playing a strategic role in strengthening ties with the European market.
Volodymyr Pugachov, Executive Director, Regional Director Eastern Europe at Donau Soja, highlighted the importance of traceability, sustainable production, and support for Ukrainian farmers growing non-GM soya. Market trends, European buyers’ expectations, and certification of Ukrainian soybeans were also discussed.
Attended by the leading agricultural media in the country, the event reinforced Donau Soja’s role in facilitating knowledge exchange and helping Ukrainian producers adapt to evolving market and regulatory requirements.
