Since 16 September 2026, Ukraine has a new state regulatory framework for genetically modified organisms (GMOs). It introduces requirements for the registration, control, traceability and labelling of GMOs and GMO products. These changes make it increasingly important for agricultural producers to verify product status and follow non-GM production requirements.
To support producers growing non-GM soybeans, Donau Soja, Zakhidnyi Buh and Bank KD are implementing a dedicated project. This initiative relaunches the Donau Soja Small Farmers Project.
Through the project, producers can access soybean seed varieties supplied by Zakhidnyi Buh and suitable for cultivation in Ukraine. Bank KD JSC offers financing for seed purchases at rates starting at 0.01% per year, with individual repayment schedules. Donau Soja provides specialised information, practical guidance and expertise, including support on control, traceability and measures to prevent GMO contamination. The project also connects producers with a community working to develop non-GM soybean production in Ukraine.
Our aim is to help producers respond to the new requirements, strengthen non-GM production practices and explore market opportunities for products with verified non-GM.
