On 29 May 2025, Donau Soja organised a professional visit to GT Agro-Panfil in Plop village, Donduseni district (Moldova), bringing together over 45 participants – including farmers, agronomists and agricultural stakeholders from across the country. The visit was part of Donau Soja’s efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices through knowledge-sharing and peer learning, supported by the Strategic Partnership with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
The focus of the visit was on no-till farming, a technique that minimises soil disturbance and supports long-term soil health. GT Agro-Panfil has implemented no-till methods for more than 15 years and currently applies them across 90% of its 2,100 hectares. This long-standing commitment has made the farm a frontrunner for sustainable crop production in the region.
Participants discussed both the environmental and economic benefits of no-till farming, including:
– Improved water retention and reduced erosion
– Enhanced soil fertility and biological activity
– Greater resilience to drought and climate extremes
– Lower production costs and long-term economic gains through soil conservation
The event underlined that no-till adaptation is feasible and effective under local Moldovan conditions – offering a path towards more sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.
Donau Soja thanks GT Agro-Panfil for their openness and all participants for their active engagement.
