Europe Soya: From Field to Fish – Powering Sustainable Aquaculture
At the North Atlantic Seafood Forum 2026 in Bergen (3–5 March), the world’s leading executive seafood business conference, the Donau Soja team showcased how European soy is driving a more sustainable future for aquafeed.
Sustainable aquaculture is not just about how fish are farmed, it’s also about what they eat, and how those feed ingredients are sourced. Europe Soya-certified soya ensures responsibly produced, regionally grown, and deforestation-free feed protein that meets evolving EU sustainability standards.
The future of sustainable aquaculture begins in the field and Donau Soja is leading the way!

Round Table Moldova ”Regional context & development perspectives of the soybean sector”
The area for soybean cultivation in the Republic of Moldova remains small, and in recent years it has unfortunately shrunk to approximately 20,000 hectares. At the same time, the sector is facing several challenges, among which are climate-related issues and rising production cost, need for aligning to EU standards and policies, low yields and regional competition, volatility of prices for inputs and others.
To discuss these topics and work on solutions, Donau Soja organised the round table “Regional Context and Development Prospects for the Soybean Sector in the Republic of Moldova,”. The event was dedicated to assessing the current situation and defining medium- and long-term development directions and took place ahead of the sowing season on the 13th of March. Over 40 different stakeholders from the soybean sector joined: farmers, processors, R&D, experts and representatives of state authorities, such as Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, National Food Safety Agency and Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture.
The event included several key discussions and presentations, including recent development in the sector, main challenges faced by local companies, regional market context, trade balance of soybean and soybean processed goods in the Republic of Moldova, subventions and state policies targeted for the soybean sector, value chain issues and importance of certification in the context of regional competitiveness.
The round table allowed for discussions among different actors from the sector that helped highlight gaps in the sector and formulate key recommendations needed for adapting soybean production to climate change, strengthening the local value chain and developing processing capabilities, connecting farmers with processors and creating a supportive public policy framework and emphasized the need for ongoing alignment with European market standards and requirements.

Workshop on Technological innovations for rapid quality control of agricultural products
On February 18, 2026, Donau Soja Ukraine, in cooperation with Donau Soja member EnviroLogix and its official partner in Ukraine Biolabtech, successfully organised the workshop “Technological innovations for rapid quality control of agricultural products” in Kyiv.
The workshop brought together professionals from quality assurance and production departments of agricultural and processing companies in Ukraine. The focus was on the technological solutions to ensure high-quality standards, particularly in mycotoxin control management.
Key topics covered included:
- Europe Soya Standard and its market opportunities
- Mycotoxin risk management and rapid testing technologies
- Compliance with EU regulatory requirements
The program of the workshop included not only expert presentations but also practical demonstrations of the solutions offered by EnviroLogix and Biolabtech. Partners provided expert insights and hands-on demonstrations of their rapid mycotoxin testing solutions, which are crucial for maintaining product quality and safety in real-time, allowing producers to respond quickly without compromising market value.
The event gave participants the opportunity to improve their understanding and skills in applying these technologies for mycotoxin monitoring and risk management.
A special thank you to Donau Soja members — the experts from EnviroLogix, who traveled from Austria to share their international expertise live in Kyiv and engaged directly with Ukrainian partners, gaining first-hand feedback from industry representatives.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with industry leaders to promote high-quality, sustainable agricultural practices and ensure that Ukrainian producers remain competitive in the global market.

Road map of soya cultivation 2026
The event “Road map of soya cultivation 2026”, co-organised with the Zakhidnyi Buh company – a member of the Protein Partnership Programme, took place in Lviv, Ukraine, on 13 March 2026. Donau Soja contributed as a speaker – Mrs. Radiuk held the presentation “Perspectives of soya marked 2026”, discussing the future trends of the soya market in Ukraine, particularly regarding the integration with European standards and sustainable development of the sector. The event was streamed live on Youtube, with 10 attendees present in person and 116 online. The full event recording is also available on YouTube. During the event, topics such as the selection of soya varieties, climate change and its impact on quality, plant protection methods, and the role of micronutrients in improving yields were discussed.

Donau Soja at the Prague Karlsbourse 2026
In March 2026, Donau Soja proudly participated in the 10th Prague Karlsbourse, one of Europe’s premier events for agricultural trade. As a Bronze Sponsor Donau Soja showcased its commitment to advancing sustainable, non-GMO, and deforestation-free soya value chains across Europe. The event brought together over 1,300 decision-makers from 26 countries, serving as an invaluable platform for market development, networking, and strategic collaborations within the grain and oilseed sectors.
At the event, Volodymyr Pugachov, Executive Director of Donau Soja for Eastern Europe, delivered a key presentation on “European Soya Cultivation: A Focus on Eastern Europe”. His talk highlighted the pivotal role of Eastern European countries, including Ukraine, in strengthening Europe’s self-sufficiency in sustainable protein production. Pugachov outlined the regional potential for growing non-GMO soybeans, the importance of traceability, and how EU-aligned certifications like the Europe Soya Standard are shaping the future of soybean cultivation in the region.
Donau Soja’s participation underscored its ongoing efforts to expand sustainable supply chains and support farmers in aligning with EU sustainability goals. Through initiatives like the Protein Partnership Programme, Donau Soja continues to foster strong partnerships with key industry players to ensure the future resilience of European agriculture.
We look forward to further engaging with stakeholders across Europe as we work together to meet the growing demand for sustainable soy and contribute to Europe’s food security goals.

Donau Soja at Soybean Market: Growing. Processing. Trade.
On 20 March 2026, Donau Soja became a partner at the Soybean Market: Growing. Processing. Trade conference, held in Kyiv and organised by the Ukraine Pulse & Soybean Association. The conference gathered key industry stakeholders, including soybean producers, processors, traders, and experts, offering a comprehensive platform for discussions on the future of soybean production, processing, and trade.
Anastasia Radiuk, Quality Manager and Program Manager for the Protein Partnership Programme, held a presentation focusing on the EU soybean market: requirements and opportunities for Ukrainian producers:
- The EU, one of the largest producers of livestock products, covers only about 8% of its soy demand through domestic production.
- As part of the European soya supply chain, Ukraine plays an essential role in supporting EU food security and aligning with relevant EU agricultural requirements.
- The EU is increasingly focused on supply chain transparency and product quality. Donau Soja assists its partners in adapting to these market demands through the Protein Partnership Programme, helping them meet EU standards while improving production practices.
As demand for sustainable, non-GM soy grows, Donau Soja is focused on strengthening partnerships and ensuring the sector aligns with EU standards. By collaborating with key industry players, we can drive the sector’s growth and meet evolving market requirements.

Business breakfast with journalists
On 24 March, Donau Soja hosted a business breakfast for journalists from leading Ukrainian agricultural publications.
