Donau Soja at Black Sea Oil Trade Conference
Donau Soja took part in the Black Sea Oil Trade Conference on 23 September in Bucharest, a key market event organised by our member and partner UkrAgroConsult.
The conference brought together leading market players from the Black Sea & Danube regions, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans to shape optimal oilseed and vegoil supply chains for the global food markets.
As part of the program, Donau Soja presented tools that supports transparency, traceability, and sustainability across the entire soybean value chain – helping businesses reaching their sustainability goals and meeting the challenges of the new EU regulations.
The event featured pressing discussions on trade, logistics, global vegoil imports, and EU agricultural policy, offering exclusive forecasts and insights for the sector. With companies from 25+ countries in attendance—including producers, traders, crushers, agrifood players, and financial institutions—it provided a unique opportunity to network and drive business forward.
Donau Soja also facilitated the participation of Moldovan members to the annual Black Sea Oil Trade Conference, where they had the opportunity to establish and strengthen valuable connections and meet new potential partners, improve communication alongside the value chain, as well as get the most recent valuable market insights in the agri-food sector globally and in the Black Sea region.
AgroPuzzles 2025: Soya & maize field day in Ukraine
On 28th August the Donau Soja team organised an on-field Donau Soja Academy Masterclasses, joining agro-experts to discuss the most pressing challenges and practical solutions for producers and for field-level implementation. Participants engaged in technical discussions and field demonstrations, covering a broad range of agronomic and regulatory topics.
Donau Soja Academy Masterclasses were organised during the large-scale field day, hosted by the Zakhidnyi Buh Agricultural Development Center hosted a large-scale Field Day dedicated to soya and maize, bringing together producers, agronomists, and experts to exchange insights on sustainable crop production in Ukraine.
Key areas of focus included compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) through the Crop Insights platform, selection of regional varieties and hybrids adapted to climate stress, and the role of biologisation and inoculation in enhancing resilience and productivity. Sessions also addressed nutrient management for soya and maize, foliar application strategies, and current crop protection technologies.
We extend our sincere thanks to our partners at Zakhidnyi Buh for their collaboration and continued commitment to knowledge sharing in the region.
Donau Soja connects with partners at the 18th International DonauBörse
On 5 September 2025, Donau Soja participated with a stand at the 18th International DonauBörse in Vienna. The DonauBörse is one of Europe’s leading events for the exchange of agricultural commodities, and our stand served as a platform for dialogue and cooperation.
Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about:
- European non-GM and deforestation-free soy
- Crop Insights – our practical tool supporting the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) compliance, from geodata collection to due diligence statements
- Market perspectives for certified European soy value chains
We thank all partners and stakeholders who joined us at the Donau Soja stand. The strong interest and active exchange confirm the importance of building transparent, resilient and sustainable soy supply chains in Europe.
Demo Day Serbia
Donau Soja hosted a Demo Day on soybean production in regenerative practices, near Kanjiža, Serbia, together with company GENEZA air-drying plant, who played a key role in establishing and maintaining the field trials.
Partners in the event were leading seed companies from the region and input providers of inoculants, biostimulants, microbiological and organic preparations.
The event gathered more than 40 participants, who had the opportunity to see and hear about the performance of 11 soybean varieties from different maturity groups, grown under regenerative agriculture practices:
- No-till – direct sowing into cover crops
- Production without inorganic fertilizers
- Supported by microbiological and other organic inputs
The results clearly showed that soybean can be successfully cultivated under regenerative conditions, proving once again the potential of sustainable approaches in agriculture.
Donau Soja at the XVI International Conference “Large Farm Management” (LFM 2025)
The Large Farm Management Conference (LFM 2025) once again proved to be one of the flagship platforms for Ukraine’s agribusiness community. This year, Donau Soja presented our decarbonisation benefits during the panel discussion. As the focus on decarbonisation took centre stage in the high-level discussions, our presentation illustrated the shift from abstract policy to concrete implementation under the EU Green Deal framework.
The Green Deal is no longer a distant vision but is actively shaping business strategy, investment logic, and competitiveness in agriculture. One of the key takeaways from the panel discussion was the need to acknowledge the role of every actor in the decarbonisation ecosystem. While large companies may drive scale and technological innovation, organisations like Donau Soja play a critical role in building capacity, especially among small and medium-sized farms.
Through knowledge-sharing and hands-on support, Donau Soja helps farmers understand carbon accounting, adapt to new regulatory frameworks, and strengthen their market access. As a practical example, Donau Soja presented its CO₂ datasets, developed under the Protein Partnership Programme, which show that Ukrainian partner farms already achieve emissions significantly below the European average. This data underscores a key message: sustainability is not only a responsibility, it is a competitive advantage.
Demo Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Advancing sustainable soybean production
Together with our long-standing partners and members, the Institute for Development and Advancement of Agriculture (IRUP) and Bimal, Donau Soja hosted a demo day for soybean production in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together more than 60 participants – mostly farmers, but also representatives of the industry and government sector. Once again, we demonstrated that soya can be grown in a more sustainable way – through reduced tillage, optimized use of inputs, while still ensuring stable yields.
