Moldova Field Day

13 August, 2025

A group of farmers listens to a presentation at the Donau Soja demonstration platform during Moldova’s 2025 field day.

On June 25, 2025, a seminar dedicated to sustainable agriculture was held at the National Center for Seed Research and Production, Selecția branch, bringing together agricultural producers from all regions. The event served as a valuable opportunity for knowledge-sharing, experience exchange, and the promotion of good agricultural practices.

Participants had the opportunity to visit the Donau Soja demonstration platform, which includes:

  • 25 soybean varieties
  • 11 bean varieties
  • 2 pea varieties

This marks the first time in Moldova that the Donau Soja platform has included bean and pea varieties, highlighting the importance of these crops in the context of sustainable agriculture.

Farmers and experts discuss legume varieties in the field during Moldova’s 2025 field day hosted by Donau Soja and partners.

The cultivation and commercialization of legumes represents a valuable opportunity for farmers, contributing to income diversification, local economic growth, and access to international markets, especially amid rising demand for healthy and sustainable food products.

Other topics discussed during the seminar included:

  • Implementation of the new Land Code and its implications for farmers
  • Advance subsidies for investment projects aimed at improving soil quality
  • Modern technologies for cultivating wheat, barley, oats, corn, sunflower, and legumes
  • Effective plant protection methods and strategies for more sustainable farming
  • Challenges and opportunities in legume production, which plays a key role in crop rotation and soil fertility restoration
  • Examples and models of sustainable agriculture tailored to local soil and climate conditions

The event was organised by the Agricultural and Rural Advisory Center, in collaboration with the Donau Soja Association, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the National Land Improvement Agency, and the National Center for Seed Research and Production.
