Europe is aiming for a record year in soya: This year’s total soya area is predicted to grow to 4.5 million ha in 2022, which makes +4.3 % compared to 2021. Soya area in the EU-27 is predicted to expand by 12 % to a record 1.09 million ha.
Increasing volumes of sustainable soya in Ukraine despite war.
The war against Ukraine has made the agricultural markets nervous. While the export situation for commodities following the Russian blockade of Black Sea ports looks rather bad, the situation for soya is completely different.
The life cycle assessment (LCA) datasets of Donau Soja and Europe Soya-certified soybeans are now publicly available as a so-called “branded dataset” via Blonk Consultants’ Agri-footprint portal.

Due to suitable climate and soils, many European farmers are remarkably good at growing cereal crops such as wheat, barley and maize. This supports high levels of production of carbohydrate-rich grains used mostly to feed livestock.
All users involved in the development of legume production and use are invited to join the Legume Hub Community by registering as a member. Members are welcome to contribute to the Hub by creating a personal profile related to their legume work, publishing articles and providing information about their projects.
