Meeting with soybean processing companies from Moldova

On 12 February a meeting with soybean processing companies from the Republic of Moldova was organised in the framework of  EU funded project: “Increasing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector through integration to domestic and global value chains in particular in the soya sector”, implemented by the Austian Development Agency (ADA) in partnership with Donau Soja and the Moldovan NGO Pro Didactica in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

During the meeting the Donau Soja Team in Moldova presented the results of soybean production and processing attained in 2018, as well as the recent evolution of the soya market (both raw and processed) in Moldova and the tendencies of the European market of soya and soya products.

The discussions during the meeting were focused on the peculiarities of soybean processing in Moldova and challenges faced by soybean processing companies at various stages of operation: access to and collection of raw material, processing, marketing (local and foreign), etc.

The participants, including representatives of Moldovan soybean processing companies, Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of Moldova (MARDE), Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and Donau Soja, expressed a great interest in the development of a soybean sector in Moldova, particularly soybean processing and production of high quality and value fodder for the poultry and livestock sector, aligning their discussions on identification of ways for overcoming the challenges faced and the most efficient ways of cooperating within the project.

This activity was organised in the framework of the EU funded project “Increasing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector through integration to domestic and global value chains in particular in the soya sector”, implemented by ADA in partnership with Donau Soja and ProDidactica NGO in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
