Best Practice Dissemination Event in Romania

‘Seeing is learning’

Eight farmers from northern Moldova seized the opportunity to take part in the learning and exchange visit to Romania from 15 to 18 May 2019.

The event offered Moldovan soya producers the opportunity to meet professionals from the soya sector and exchange experiences in soya production technologies. Donau Soja Romania coordinated the visit on behalf of the project in cooperation with the Romanian hosts: VA Intertrading, certified silo in Gostinu; a member of “Vlasca 2008” Cooperative, that cultivates 2000 ha of soybeans, as well as the National Agriculture Research and Development Institute in Fundulea, known for soya seed breeding on international level.

Visiting the Romanian colleagues was a good opportunity for the Moldovan farmers to

  • learn how progressive soybean farming is implemented in Romania;
  • get to know potential benefits of a Donau Soja membership;
  • be introduced to the process of preparing for the certification according to Donau Soja Standard; and
  • learn about soya genotype potential in Fundulea and set up contacts with Romanian companies.

The participants were inspired with new ideas, which they took home and tried to integrate into their own work.

The Best Practice Dissemination Event was organised in the framework of the EU funded project for increasing the competitiveness of the Moldovan agri-food-sector (with special focus on the soya value chain). This EU financed and ADA managed project aims to improve existing quality standards and to strengthen capacities in vocational education and training in agriculture.
