RÜGENWALDER MÜHLE

Rügenwalder Mühle ranks among Germany's most well-known food producers. Its nine brands to date—inlcuding Rügenwalder Teewurst, Schinken Spicker, Mühlen Currywurst, plus the vegetarian range successively introduced since the end of 2014—make the company a familiar favorite on food retailers' shelves all over the country.

Founded in 1834 in Rügenwalde, Pommerania, the family-owned company is today managed in the sixth generation by Christian Rauffus. In 1946 Rügenwalder Mühle moved to Lower Saxony, and since 1956 it has been at home in Bad Zwischenahn. An additional office and production complex especially for vegetarian products is currently under construction on the extended site.

More than 500 employees generate annual sales of some EUR 175 million (2014). This makes Rügenwalder Mühle an important economic force and one of the largest employers in the region. Rügenwalder Mühle believes in an unbroken tradition of craftsmanship, and since 1996 has been driving to further develop its various brands.

Rügenwalder Mühle's focus is on excellent product quality. To ensure the highest standards and safety for customers, the company has installed its own quality management system. Furthermore, independent examining bodies test raw ingredients, other ingredients, and final products, as well as oversee the production process.

The company also takes its social responsibility in the region seriously with its apprenticeship program. Every year a new influx of young people begin their careers at Rügenwalder Mühle. At present (2015) 21 apprentices work at Rügenwalder Mühle where they benefit from attractive training opportunities in modern professions.

Rügenwalder Mühle's December 2014 launch of its vegetarian line was impressively successful and unleashed a genuine revolution. The product range is continually growing and demand has been huge. In response to customer demand Rügenwalder Mühle has been particularly selective with the origin of its ingredients, especially the key raw ingredient, the soybean.
